After three years of some of the hardest work I’ve ever had to do, I am proud to say that I graduated with my BFA in Visual Communication this month! It is both exciting and terrifying to finally pursue my passion, but I can’t wait to see what comes next. To share my excitement with others, I designed this postcard-style graduation announcement to send to my friends and family!
In the last 2 semesters of my time at school, I wrote and published what I feel is one of my greatest accomplishments thus far: my senior thesis. Writing about myself, my historical influences, my work, and my future really made me realize my personal philosophies and ideas about design. Putting these ideas into words and on paper confirmed that I am pursuing what I truly love to do. I’m so thrilled with how it turned out, I simply had to put it up online to share! You can read it here.
I finally have my very own #businesscards! Time to start using them. #design #brandidentity #minimalism #vscocam
So, I made some pickles… then I designed some labels for them. #pickles #canning #packaging #design #graphicdesign #vscocam
Typography Poster. 2013. 12 x 18”.
For my first project in my typography class, we had to design a poster. I used one of my favorite quotes by Theodore Roosevelt. I wanted something clean and straight-to-the-point, so I layered two typefaces (while trying to match up the kerning) and applied a subtle texture. I’m pleased with the results!
Self Portrait. 2013. 12 x 16”.
I painted a self portrait today. I wanted to use a specific color palette and a soft value range. I also attempted to use a heavier brush stroke than I normally would since I ultimately would like to have a brushier painting style. This style is most noticeable in the hair and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I’ve been frustrated with my paintings lately, but I think I’ve redeemed myself with this one!
